Welcome to our second newsletter!
Before we get to the good stuff, I’d just like to thank everyone who came out to support our event last month. The night certainly lived up to our already high expectations which is in no small part down to the amazing lineup of speakers and panelists who delivered the goods.
But with that said…there's no time to rest! We’re already planning for our next event which takes place in March as well as looking forward to a few other events that you can read about in this week’s newsletter.

Blockchain Ireland’s 5th conference will take place on May 28th/29th. The theme for this year’s 2-day event is ‘Maturity & Stability’ and it will be held at Trinity Business School in Dublin.

BlockStart Scotland will be hosting Scotland’s first major web3 event on August 1st/2nd. The event, which takes place in Glasgow, already has over 60 speakers announced and promises to be a brilliant occasion.

In our first newsletter, we informed you that our community members, Lisa McClory and Sara Simeone, would be attending the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Following their safe return, we are thrilled to share some noteworthy insights gathered from their trip. Sara highlighted key trends in the web3 space that surfaced during the event at our recent NFT meetup.

🔗 GoDaddy x Ethereum - GoDaddy, a leader in domain registration, has joined forces with Ethereum Name Service (ENS)to bridge traditional web domains and web3. This collaboration enables users to seamlessly use .eth domains with their URLs at no cost, simplifying web3 domain management. The surge in the Ethereum Name Service token (ENS) following the announcement seemingly highlights the industry's positive response.
🚀 Farcaster - There’s a new web3 protocol that everyone’s talking about. Farcaster is a decentralised social media protocol that allows users to own their data, migrate followers seamlessly from app to app, and build custom front-end clients. The biggest app built on the Farcaster protocol currently is a decentralised clone of Twitter(X) called Warpcast. Much of the recent buzz around Farcaster and Warpcast focuses on the new 'Frames' feature which allows creators to embed certain features inside of their posts. This means users can carry out activities such as minting an NFT or signing up for a newsletter without leaving the app or interacting with a third party. The app's rise signals a shift toward user-controlled, botless, ad-free social media.
🐧 Pudgy Penguins Licensing - One of the most talked about developments in the NFT space in the last few weeks has been the beta launch of Pudgy Penguins’ IP licensing platform, Overpass. Holders of Pudgy Penguins NFTs will be able to connect their wallets to access a range of licensing opportunities in what could become the blueprint for NFT/IP projects of the future.
