Onboarding the next generation of web3 talent

One of our main goals for 2024 was to link up with the education system and build bridges for new talent to join the web3 industry.

We are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with the very successful, Manchester-based Two+Two event which sees over 150 enthusiastic students tackle a creative brief with the help of experienced creative agency mentors.

This year’s web3-themed brief was set by our partners Coinbase who’ll also be sponsoring and attending the event.

The MBA will also be proudly represented by six of our contributors who’ll be on hand to pass on their web3 expertise to some of Manchester’s brightest young minds.

Bitcoin Pizza Day

A staple in the crypto calendar, of course we’re going to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day!

If you’re unfamiliar with Bitcoin Pizza Day, on the 22nd May each year the crypto community commemorates the day that two large pizzas were purchased for 10,000 BTC (yikes) back in 2010. The pizza order is widely regarded as the first-ever Bitcoin transaction.

To commemorate the anniversary of this iconic milestone, crypto lovers around the world come together to share a pizza and celebrate just how far we’ve come in the blockchain world.

We’ll be putting on an event in partnership with PizzaDAO. More details to drop shortly.

🚀 Bitcoin to the moon - The talk of the web3 town at the minute is unquestionably Bitcoin. Our old friend continues to set new all-time highs as sentiment around crypto grows stronger by the day. Buckle up folks, it looks like we are going to be in for quite a year.

🦖 Seize the Clay - There’s a new breakthrough NFT project on the scene, built on the Solana blockchain. Claynosaurz offers a selection of 7 species of adorable, clay-style dinosaurs. They’ve been around a while, but the past week or so have seen their socials blowing up, with 7 million+ views across their social media. The project comes from seasoned veterans in animation, working at places like Marvel, Ubisoft, Disney, and HBO. The NFTs fit into the Claynotopia metaverse game, offering its community a fun way to interact with their NFTs. Could be one to watch!

🏦 Sony Bank follows Visa into web3 - Another day, another web2 giant stepping into web3. Sony bank (subsidiary of Sony Group) has made not one but two announcements relating to their planned activity in the blockchain space. Firstly, they announced an upcoming app for NFTs and web3 entertainment rewards which will be linked to Sony Bank’s existing financial services. Secondly, a US dollar, green finance security token will be released allowing investors to lend money to Sony Bank, which will be invested in green projects relating to climate change, water and biodiversity.
